Disability Rates in Armenia and Moldova

Did you know?

While Armenia and Moldova report disability rates at 6.5%, significantly lower than the global estimate of over 15%, it’s important to note potential biases or gaps in the data collection methodologies of these countries that might contribute to this substantial difference.

In Moldova, 168 000 individuals have disabilities, with men slightly outnumbering women—a contrast to the global trend.

Armenia, on the other hand, registers 195 634 persons with disabilities, where 77.3% face lifelong disabilities, notably including 93 201 women and 9 182 children.

These statistics underscore the pressing need for accessible education, social, healthcare and  economic systems to ensure equal opportunities for all members of society without leaving no one behind.
